Maggie and her friends had an excellent trip down to the Nürburgring today! Matt and I went with Maggie, abuzavi was there with Tess Turbo and his kids, 91Eunos, and WP4LDU, who brought along Nick with his BMW 318. The weather was cold and clear, however as the day went on, it started to get pretty moist! There were a bunch of Brits with their VWs waiting as I got there just before 8am. Once the track opened, they were in there like a shot and someone promptly ran their car into a wall/ditch/whatever and rolled it. Dunno of injuries but the track was closed for about 45 minutes. We were able to get out onto the track about 5 after 9 and it was a feeling out session, really. Though I’d been there before, I was tentative with the slick surface. Also, 91Eunos had mentioned that, yesterday, there was a race where less than half the field completed. Therefore, lots of oil on the track. Real bad with the wet! Regardless, we had a heck of a time. 91Eunos bought another Jahre-pass (€960/$1518.82) and offered to take folks around in his MINI. Matt got to ride with him and said that 91Eunos’ car was crazy loud but enjoyed the lap! We all piled into our cars for our grand finale and I was able to find our picture on the Nordschleife webcam. Here it is:
If you click on the snap, and then click on it once it comes up again, you’ll see the larger version of it!! I must tell ya’ll that I TOLD Kelly that if the Army PCS’es me to Germany, I would get the Jahre-pass!! Right, like either one would happen!
Cheers!
