The Tucker Stories

Another beautiful day in the Benelux!!! Took the opportunity to ride out to work and time the ride. Takes about 45 minutes or so. Not too bad a ride; just a couple of tricky parts dodging traffic but nothing nearly as dangerous as riding in the States!!! Whilst in Brunssum, I came across the Commonwealth War Cemetery. Was a rather powerful site. The Dutch definitely don’t forget the sacrifices made. As you can see, Snape is a legitimate English name. On the way back home, I had a couple of interesting events. The first was being stopped by a Dutch couple from Arnhem who needed directions to Schinnen!!! They got a kick out of someone from North Carolina giving them directions in Holland!!! I shoulda told them I was from Texas because we all know that a Texan might’ve never been there but he can sure give you directions to getting there!!! The second was that I’d stopped at one of the local parks around here. I did not realize how HUGE this place was. I mean truly a huge park with some BIG hills and even a pond that they swim in. Since I was getting tired and wanted to get home, I didn’t adventure around it much but it is on my list of places to go. Finally, I’d seen a few Dutch Boy Scouts on their way to their meeting. As I was smoking down the road on the bike, I was unable to stop and get their picture but they sure looked good! It was a great 2 ½ hour ride but the timing was perfect in getting home!
