The Tucker Stories

It has been quite some time since my last post and there are a couple of significant events to share with the group.  One is that I’ve gotten my retirement orders and the other is that Matt got accepted to the University of Texas at Dallas!!

So now I have orders putting me on the Retired List effective 1 November 2010.  That’ll be 25 years, 2 months and 22 days after I surrendered my Civil Rights.  I also have orders moving the Clan Tucker back to Hope Mills effective 13 July 2010, after which I’ll go on Terminal Leave until November.  As soon as I got my orders, I started scheduling for those events needed to get us back to the States in 164 days!!  The different agencies were quite surprised that I’ve already started scheduling things but I don’t wanna miss the dates that I need to meet my schedule.  For example, shipping the furniture back will take about 90 days to get back home and Kelly’s Triumph will take about 51 days to get to Charleston.  If I was to wait until March or April, I’d be competing with everyone else trying to get out of here during the Summer Exodus.  Now that the furniture and car has been scheduled for shipment and our plane tickets are reserved.  The next big thing is the VA physical which will determine my disability.  But that is for another post.

The other and bigger news is that Matt got his first response from his college applications from the University of Texas at Dallas where he’s looking at a degree in International Political Economy.  We’re still waiting for the rest to reply but this is a great start.  Now, to pay for all of that…
